A group of 5 students from the Police Academy in Szczytno completed an intensive two-week Erasmus+ internship in Hungary, organized by Ludovika University of Public Service (LUPS) in cooperation with Hungarian Police (BRFK). The trip’s program combined theoretical classes, specialized workshops, and field service.
The internship began with a visit to the National Police Headquarters in Budapest, where participants familiarized themselves with the force’s structure and viewed historical exhibits. Weapons used by the Hungarian Police were also presented to students.
In the first week of the stay activities were carried out with, among others, the criminal divisions and the prevention divisions, as well as with the river police, with whom the students went on a patrol on the Danube. Participants took part in advanced workshops on combating cybercrime and economic crime, covering forensic IT, data recovery, cryptocurrency analysis and OSINT tools. Students also analysed the tactics of special units, including by watching and analysing footage from operations conducted by these formations and honed their skills on traffic simulators.
The second week opened with a visit to the Pest County Police Headquarters. Students from Szczytno took part there in K( police dog handler exercises and prevention unit drills, and also familiarized themselves with counter-terrorism unit equipment and drone tactics used in police operations. The next item on the program included activities with the traffic police on the M4 highway where modern equipment and vehicles were presented, along with innovative drug testers used to detect prohibited substances in the body. Students also took part in patrol on the M4 motorway.
The finale of the two-week stay was two days of duty at the Hungaroring track during the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Participants, together with Hungarian officers, secured the event grounds and provided assistance and support to tourists. Particularly notable was the final day, when officers from, among others, Austria, Serbia, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia joined the security operations – creating an unique space for international exchange of experience and joint duty service.
The two-week trip provided students with comprehensive professional development, deepened their knowledge across various police divisions, and helped them establish valuable international contacts.
