Two graduates from last year’s Police Academy in Szczytno, in the field of criminology, along with a current student of Police Science, took part in foreign professional internship caried out under the Erasmus+ programme by the Police Academy in Szczytno. The internship took place from 15-26 June 2026 at the Jefatura Superior de Policia de Aragón in Zaragoza – an organizational unit of the Spanish National Police whose competencies are similar to those of Polish provincial (voivodeship) police headquarters.
The programme included lectures, presentations, and practical activities during which the participants learned about the structure and functioning of the Spanish National Police, the organization of duty service, operational procedures, and solutions used in combating terrorism, organized crime, and cybercrime, as well as ensuring public safety.
As part of the internship, participants visited National Police units, a forensic laboratory, and a court, and also observed the daily service of officers. One of the most interesting elements of the programme was a joint patrol with officers of the Brigada Mówil – Policia en el Transporte, during which, among other things, the use of a service dog for detecting narcotics was demonstrated. A valuable experience was also a flight aboard a police helicopter, which allowed participants to learn about the role of air support in police operations.
Participants also took part in ceremonies commemorating Spanish National Police Officers who died in terrorist attacks, which allowed them to better understand the history and traditions of this force.
The internship enabled an exchange of experience with Spanish officers, a comparison of solutions used in both countries, and the development of the participants’ professional, language, and intercultural competencies.
